Why Use Maresware Software

Designed for more speed, capacity and flexibility

Maresware was originally designed to assist law enforcement personnel in the analysis and processing of computer related evidence, and for the raw processing of multi megabytes of data by both computer forensic examiners and auditors. Maresware was designed to handle extremely large amounts of data and to do so at maximum speed. Therefore, it was written in pure "C", which outperforms most other languages.

The efficiency of Maresware software is further enhanced by the fact that each of the programs performs only one specific task. This design maximizes processing speed by reducing overhead from unnecessary programs. It also increases flexibility.

Another helpful design feature is that each program's output is ready for use as input to the next process. Thus you can readily build larger procedures to perform more complicated tasks. (An auditor once developed a 1000 line batch file using Maresware. Set it and forget it).

The one program-one task design also makes Maresware extremely configurable to the user's needs. Our philosophy is that it should be the user, not the software, that determines what, when, and how the data is processed. This gives the user ultimate control. And it also makes "outside the box" processes possible.

Some examples of Maresware applications

Simultaneous Drive Wiping: A federal investigative agency was routinely wiping forensic work drives for reuse. Wiping drives is time consuming. So the investigators decided to put 5 SCSI drives in the system at once, and use Maresware's Ntwipe program to wipe all 5 drives simultanously. From that point on simultaneous wiping became their routine.

Automated file copying and deleting from multiple locations with multiple names: Another inventive person had over 8,000 files that needed to be copied from a source location to a destination while maintaining the tree structure. The problem was that these files were all in different locations, and did not have common names to allow any wildcard matches. A further complication was that after the files were copied, the originals needed to be deleted. So he chose a combination of Maresware's Upcopy and Rmd programs to perform a virtual hands-free operation on the 8,000 files.

Do a 100% verification of a drive-wiping: A forensic investigator needed to confirm that the entire drive had been overwritten with a specific character. Taking samples was simply not adequate for his needs. This level of verification is usually avoided, perhaps unwisely, because it is so time-consuming. But this investigator automated the task, using Maresware's Ss program, and let it run after he left the office for the day.(We know of no other software on the market that will accomplish a 100% verification.)

Our users' creativity always surprises us and we've learned that Maresware can perform a wide variety of operations not explicitly documented.

Before you buy Maresware--things to do

1) Try the sample programs and access ALL the documentation. Before you buy our software you can download and try sample programs. And you can also download all of the documentation. We want you to know everything that's documented before you buy it. Then, we invite you to compare Maresware with other software you may be considering.

2) Still have questions? What about an application that's not in the documentation? Maybe it would help to talk with the software's developer. That's Dan Mares and he uses Maresware software in his own professional practice, to solve problems just like yours.

You can e-mail Dan Mares or call him at (770)237-8870 or (678)427-3275.
