About Dan Mares

All Mares and Company training programs are developed by Dan Mares. Dan retired from service as a federal law enforcement agent after 27 years and founded Mares and Company, LLC, as a vehicle for continuing his work. He brought with him a broad background of experience. His law enforcement service included investigations both in the field and in internal security.

Dan was working as an Investigator when the field of Computer Forensics was just emerging. He was asked to join the teams that developed the earliest training programs: both the first Seized Computer Evidence Recovery Specialist course(known as 'SCERS') and the Basic Data Recovery and Advanced Data Recovery classes at the National White Collar Crime Center. He also served as an instructor of these courses.

In the course of this work Dan became aware of the need for specialized computer software tools for this new field. So he began developing Maresware software. He continues to refine Maresware to meet today's challenges and to provide support to its users worldwide.

Dan continues his training and software development work. In addition, he maintains a private practice as a Computer Forensics Analyst and Expert Witness in the field of Computer Forensics. For more information about Dan's professional activities please see About Dan Mares.
