BRANDIT is a software program designed to help identify the rightful owner of a lost or stolen computer.

With BRANDIT an owner can "BRAND" identifying information onto a hard disk; this allows law enforcement or internal security to identify the rightful owner.

Often, the owner doesn't have the serial number available to provide to law enforcement, which makes it harder for him to claim the equipment.

For large corporations, computers are always "walking" from one person's desk to another. BRANDIT can also help keep track of the original assignments of the computers, especially laptops.

1. BRANDIT is a passive program and doesn’t require a subscription for monitoring.
2. BRANDIT is currently provided free of charge to law enforcement for their use in identifying the owner of the computer. Organizations and individuals must purchase the program and pay a nominal per computer license fee. Law enforcement are encouraged to download the reader and have it available for use when computers are recovered.
3. BRANDIT hides its information on the hard drive, and is extremely difficult to find and remove.
4. BRANDIT can also aid in controlled sales and sting operations by positively identifying the owner/source of the computer hard disk.
